DIY Face Cream

Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a great week! For today’s article I have something very special. I am excited to share with you my very own DIY face cream recipe. Not in the mood for reading? Watch the video on my Youtube channel right HERE!

Now before I get started on how to make my DIY face cream, let’s quickly run through the ingredients.

What you need

The Base Cream

The first ingredient that you need is a base cream. You can use coconut oil instead, or unscented hypo-allergenic creams that are store bought. My personal preference is a product from The Soap Barn called “whipped body butter mousse”. The reason I prefer this product as opposed to coconut oil, for instance, is that all the ingredients mix very well together to form a very luxurious face cream.

TIP: When you use coconut oil it seems that the ingredients won’t mix too well, which means you always have to shake before use. Another issue I have is that, during the warmer months in summer, coconut oil becomes a liquid. Because of that, you need to shake everything vigorously to get it mixed properly. Similarly, when it’s winter, it sets and forms a top layer and leaving all other ingredients on the bottom of the bottle. That makes it harder to mix when you shake it.

Aloe Vera Gel

The second ingredient you’ll need is aloe vera Gel. You can buy 1 litre at the store, if you find that easier. You are only going to use 1 tablespoon at a time, so a litre should last you a long time. If you are fortunate enough to have your own aloe vera plant you can use fresh aloe vera gel. Remove the outer skin and scoop out the gel, and then mash it up in a bowl. Voila, your own aloe vera gel.

Baobab Oil

My third ingredient is baobab oil. Of course, you can use any oil that you like. Alternatively, you can use tissue oil if you want to. My preference is baobab oil because the product is absolutely amazing for your skin!

Rice Milk

The next ingredient is rice milk. This you can buy from the store in 1 litre bottles, or you can make your own. How? I use rice milk powder but, as I said, you can just buy it at the store.

The last ingredient is essential oil. Now this is optional. I add about 5 drops of vanilla essential oil to my face cream. I only do that because I like the scent of vanilla. Again, this is optional, and you can use any essential oil you want.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Base Cream
  • 2 Tablespoons Rice Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel / Aloe Vera Juice
  • 1 Tablespoon Baobab Oil / Tissue Oil
  • 5 Drops of any Essential Oil (Optional)

Method

  • Put the 3 Tbs base cream in a bowl. Now add the 2 Tbs rice milk and mix well.
  • Add the 1 Tbs Aloe Vera Gel / Aloe Vera juice to the mixture and mix well.
  • Then add the 1 Tbs Baobab Oil and mix well.
  • This is optional but you can add 5 drops of any essential oil you prefer.

After combining all these ingredients, you will have a small glass container with your very own DIY face cream.

And that’s it! Super easy!

I hope you guys learned something fun today and I hope you have fun experimenting.
